English Premier League:  Joey Barton - A risky yet beneficial investment
There are a few players in the world who divide opinion as quickly as Barton, a person who is not even loved by his club’s own fans, is seen as a bad boy in the world of English football. The English media is always on the lookout
for their fair share of controversy but Barton does his best to provide them with news as well. Some might say that he enjoys playing to the media with his antics and outrageous comments off the field but now it might be time for Joey to finally settle down.
Clubs might be put off by his past history of misdemeanours but Barton is a talented footballer nonetheless.
Talented not in terms of skill and flair but in terms of determination, as a defensive midfielder Barton is seen as someone who is uncompromising, intimidating and forceful in his argument as well as his tackle, traits which can
be valued at the right place. However these talents come with a price, a price in terms of his attitude which is woeful to say the least. Barton fell out with Manchester City a few years ago but last season was one of his best seasons in the English Premier
League at Newcastle United.
Now it seems as if the midfielder’s consistent criticism of the club’s transfer policy has landed him in trouble once again. The Englishman was recently released from his contract by the Tyneside club and they cited his frequent
behavioural problems as a cause of their final decision to let him go. Regardless, Barton is now the talk of the town and more importantly the Englishman can do his chances of featuring for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 in the upcoming 2012 European Championships if he chooses
to play for a right club in the 2011-2012 season. Tottenham and Arsenal are seen as the front runners to capture the former Newcastle United midfielder’s signature.
Barton will be a valuable asset to both the clubs, there is absolutely no doubt about that. The defensive enforcer can fit in alongside Sandro or Palacios in a five man midfield for Harry Redknapp at Tottenham Hotspur. Furthermore,
Harry has dealt with strange characters in the past which means that he is the best man to get the best out of Barton. Redknapp managed to get the best out of a West Ham side which had a mercurial Paolo Di Canio in attack, something that should be taken as
an evidence of his man management abilities.
However Tottenham won’t be able to offer the Englishman any possible UEFA Champions League action, if Barton wants to feature at the top level of European football then Arsenal might be a better option. But http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are a club in
decline with an already well established starting line up, some have said that the Gunners do need a defensive midfielder and someone who can add some steel to their line up but Barton is someone who can create trouble at the Emirates stadium, a place where
everything is not perfect at the moment.
It will be interesting to see how this Barton saga will plan out as there is a whole month to go to the close of the summer transfer window but one thing is for sure that the upcoming English Premier League season will be a highly
entertaining one with Barton at the right club, pulling all the right moves...
