English Premier League: Last Week's Biggest Winners - Part 1
It was yet another week where we saw some pulsating football but none of the clubs could have been happier after last week than West Ham as they were the biggest movers in the table climbing out of the relegation zone. On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 suffered
a massive blow to their title hopes as they were held to a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge by Aston Villa in an exciting encounter.
Here is a list of some of the biggest winners of last week in the EPL:
Manchester United
It is beyond sensible comprehension just how United are getting away with the results playing as badly as they are but perhaps that's exactly what you call champion's luck. United are top of the league, unbeaten in the season and travelled back to Old Trafford
with another 3 points. It can be called disconcerting but signs are beginning to look ominous.
United have walked to the summit and its anyone’s guess what will happen when they start running but that is if they will ever be required to run. Such tight are the affairs this season that United have just been grinding out results but so far their opponents
have not been able to catch them. The middle of the table looks very tight but it is beginning to look like United will walk away with the title without even braking sweat.
Manchester City
City’s recent run of form has been supremely impressive to say the least. If you discount the defeat of the 10 man City against Arsenal, their home record will read something like this: Played 10, Lost 1, Drawn 3, Won 6, Goals Scored 14 and Goals Conceded
4.
City are currently 2nd in the league table tied on points with United but have played two games more. There is no doubt about the fact that they are serious title challengers this season.
Arsenal
For the first time in the season in any Premier League game, Arsenal were nothing other than entirely impressive. Although, the score line didn’t look as flattering as Manchester United V Birmingham but the performance was as adept if not better. Perhaps
some of it can be blamed on their opposition on the night as Birmingham were stray with their passes, careless with their possession and profligate with the scarce opportunities they got. But, let’s take nothing away from an Arsenal side that for the first
time in the season looked like the real deal, looked like a team that can put spanner in the works of Manchester United, who think they will be able to walk to the title.
Arsenal will face a true test of their skill and determination when they face Manchester City on Wednesday night in a top of the table six pointer but even that can have a happy backdrop for United. If the match ends in a draw no one else but United will
be dancing all the way as their title rivals would both have dropped two more points. But, for now, Arsenal can go into the match in a supremely confident mood after such an impressive win last week
Tottenham Hotspur
Believe it or not Spurs are in with a chance for the title. They did their aspirations no harm at the weekend with another hard fought win over a dogged Fulham. The win now means that the London side is unbeaten in their last 11 games and they surely deserve
a mention among the big winners of the week.
