English Premier League: Last Week's Biggest Winners - Part 2
Continuing with the biggest winners of the latest round of fixtures from the English Premier League, here is the second part:
Aston Villa
It has not happened often this season that Aston Villa have been among the biggest winners of any week in the English Premier League but surely their performance at Stamford Bridge at the weekend was impressive, untiring, dogged, determined and one that
can surely light a gloomy season. Aston Villa are currently just 2 points away from the relegation zone and although, they could only draw their last game but the manner in which the draw came said a million words.
Sunderland
Poor Sunderland managed 29 shots on goal in the game against Blackpool but could not find the back of the net. However, last week, they scored with their first attempt and despite scoring three goals they only had 4 shots on target. Steve Bruce said after
the match that ‘that’s football for you’. Looking at the stats and the way this season is going, it’s actually true that nothing is predictable but one thing that looks a safe bet is for Sunderland to finish among the top 6 and land themselves a place in the
continental competition.
Stoke City
Stoke City have done some crazy things this season but none more so than getting a 2-0 victory with just one shot on target. They had only 37% of the possession in their last game and only managed to complete 55% of their passes but still managed to land
three precious points.
West Ham
West Ham’s fortunes seem to be taking a turn. Avram Grant’s side started the week stuck to the bottom of the Premier League table but finished at the 15th spot. They are now unbeaten in their last 4 games and were the biggest movers in the EPL
table last week.
Avram Grant
West Ham’s latest win did ease some pressure on their manager as well who for the first time since being appointed the manager of Portsmouth FC in 2008 was celebrating a win outside the bottom 3 of the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion may or may not survive in the EPL this season but one thing is for sure that Chris Brunt will still be a Premier League player next season. Such have been the performances of the midfielder this season that he has attracted many suitors
and it remains only a matter of time before some big club signs him up.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288
No doubt Michael Dawson is the most underrated defender in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, City, Stoke, Villa, Newcastle and Fulham. Without him, they have conceded 19 in
13 games.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196
It was Steven Gerrard’s introduction into the game at the weekend that breathed a new life into http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 but it is only unfathomable as to why he did not start the game.
Rafael van der Vaart
Chelsea may have deemed this Dutchman surplus to their requirements by refusing to sign him up but since joining Spurs for a measly 8 million pounds, he has so far scored 8 goals and has accounted for 5 assists.
