English Premier League: Liverpool need more consistency, accepts Sammy Lee
Liverpool’s assistant manager Sammy Lee has come out and accepted the fact that the Red need to be more consistent in their performance in order to achievement something this season. Liverpool have blown hot and cold this season, something
that was not expected of the Merseyside club as they appointed a new manager in the summer i.e. Roy Hodgson.
Liverpool lost their last league match against Stoke City but before that they drew with Wigan and won against the English league leaders Chelsea F.C. Sammy Lee spoke in his club’s press conference as he said, "I can understand the euphoria
after our win over Chelsea but we have always said that we take nothing for granted. We got a great result against Chelsea and then followed it up with two indifferent results. We are all asking that question about consistency, none more so the players.”
He added, “These players want to improve, get better and be more consistent. It's everybody, not just myself; Roy and Mike Kelly (first team coach). We are all in it together and are all trying to find how we can get back to a more consistent
vein of form. Even after the win against Chelsea we were still complaining and analyzing things that we need to improve on. I can promise everyone that we are still working hard and trying to put things right."
Liverpool’s next league fixtures in the upcoming two months are relatively easier ones as they aren’t against any of the top teams in the English Premier League.
However, Sammy Lee was dismissive of this fact as he said, "Every game is difficult in this league and we have got to take each one as it comes. Stoke were aggressive and physical against us and we should have resisted it and unfortunately
we didn't do enough of that - but we've got to forget about that now. I don't look at the league table until the end of the season because there are no easy games and each one has its own degree of difficulty. We will be looking for maximum effort against
West Ham in our next game from everybody. Hopefully our quality can prevail but it won't be easy. They will come here and try to shut up shop and try and prevent us from playing our game plan, but we need to make sure our game plan is better than West Ham's
on the day."
Liverpool will definitely be looking to win their next league match which takes place against West Ham United, a club side struggling at the bottom of the English league table and striving to keep their spot in the top level of English
football for yet another season.
