English Premier League: Manchester City news update - January 13, 2011
Edin Dzeko to lead Manchester City to the Premier League title
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is very pleased with himself after capturing the biggest fish in football, Edin Dzeko. The Italian manager is convinced that Dzeko’s arrival will drastically improve Manchester City’s chances
of claiming the English Premier League title. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 said while speaking to reporters, “I think he will be a very important player for the future of this club. He is a very different from the other strikers we already had, so now we have a great mix.”
The player himself was determined to live up to the expectations placed on his shoulders with his high profile arrival in the English Premier League. He said that he was hoping to lead Manchester City to the domestic title as he
did with Wolfsburg, guiding the side to their first title. He said, “I want to do my best to show people that I'm worth this money. For me, the fee isn't important - what is important is that I'm ready for the games and to be fit. Then the rest is up to me.”
However, the positive atmosphere at Eastlands may be short lived if the Bosnian striker fails to live up to the heavy expectations placed on his young shoulders. Roberto Mancini should have also learnt a lesson or two from the
club’s history of signing expensive, underachieving flops. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778 and Robinho are two such examples; the two were big signings and were expected to turn the club’s season around; however, they did no such thing. After failing to establish their mark,
Robinho left in his second season while Santa Cruz is on his way out this January.

As pleased as he was with the arrival of Edin Dzeko, Mancini will be equally disappointed with the news of the injury striker Mario Balotelli has picked up. It has been reported the injury to his knee is set to keep the Italian
player out for about a month. Mancini said while speaking on the issue, “I'm worried because he can't play for another three or four weeks at an important moment for us. To have an operation done and then to have another problem two months later is strange.”
Though Mancini may not be pleased with Balotelli’s month long absence, it could prove very useful to new arrival Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian striker should be wise enough to make the most of the opportunity, as he will receive more
of first team playtime. The planned departure of strikers Roque Santa Cruz and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 during the January transfer window confirms the fact that Dzeko will play a major role for City in the upcoming months. City face Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston
Villa and Birmingham City, in their next three Premier League fixtures, which are relatively easy matches for the side that is currently 2nd on the Premier League table.
