English Premier League – Match Preview: Bolton Wanderers versus Manchester United
Bolton are all prepared to take on the might of the red devils as Manchester United visit the Reebok Stadium to play their sixth league match of the season. It has been a good start for Manchester United to the English Premier League
season, a start that has seen them go unbeaten for the first five games of the domestic league and also unbeaten in the UEFA Champions League.
United opened their Barclay’s English Premier League season by getting a comprehensive victory of the new-comers in the English Premier League, Newcastle United. Newcastle were dealt a heavy four goal defeat by Ferguson’s men at Old
Trafford as United won their first match of the season. Following the win over Newcastle, United played an eventful two all draw against Fulham F.C at the Craven Cottage. It was a marvellous match between Mark Hughes’s and Sir Alex Ferguson’s team which was
settled by a late goal for Fulham by their central defender, Brede Hangeland.
It was disappointing for the Red Devils to draw at the Craven Cottage especially after they went 2-1 up in the second half but they were made to pay for their wasted chances as Luis Nani’s penalty was saved by Fulham’s goalkeeper
in the dying minutes of the match. A few seconds after Nani had failed to convert his penalty kick into a goal, Hangeland’s header on the opposite end of the field gave Fulham a well-deserved point.
United next faced West Ham United at Old Trafford in a match that turned out to be a footballing lesson for the Hammers. Manchester United totally outplayed the London club and scored an imposing three goal victory over Avram Grant’s
team. After that, Manchester United travelled to the Merseyside to face Everton at Goodison Park. Once again, United’s defence went to sleep in the final five minutes of the match and thus Ferguson’s men gave up their 3-1 lead to draw the match 3-3.
In their latest, English Premier League match, Manchester United faced their rivals Liverpool at the theatre of dreams i.e. Old Trafford. Sir Alex’s team were at their best in this match as they took a two goal lead but then made
it difficult for themselves as they gave away two cheap goals from two set pieces to allow the Reds a path back into the match. However, this match was perfectly setup for Dimitar Berbatov’s hatrick who after scoring Manchester United’s first two goals netted
the third one as well from a well placed header to give his team a 3-2 win.
Currently, Manchester United are level on points with Arsenal but third in the English Premier League charts behind the Gunners due to their inferior goal difference of positive seven. The Red Devils have amassed eleven points from
their opening five games as they have won three and drawn two of their matches so far in the domestic league season.
On the other hand, Bolton Wanderers are presently 13th in the English league table after gathering a total of six points from five games. They have a goal difference of negative one, as they have scored seven goals but
conceded eight in all the league matches that they have played this season. Bolton have lost one, won one and drawn three matches this season and will be looking to at least hold the Red devils to a draw at the Reebok Stadium. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will
be working hard to usurp Chelsea from top of the English league table by closing down the four point gap that exists between both the English clubs.
Manchester United are expected to start with Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov in attack but Paul Scholes might be rested so that he can be used in United’s up-coming mid-week clash with Valencia in the UEFA Champions League’s group
stages. Anything but a win will be unacceptable for Sir Alex’s team as the race for the English Premier League crown heats up.
