English Premier League: Moyes backs Neville for management

Everton’s current manager, David Moyes has leapt to support of skipper saying that Phillip Neville has got what it takes to make it as a manager in football. Phil Neville started off his career as a Manchester United player alongside
the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and David Beckham. However in early 2000s, Phil parted ways with the Red Devils as Sir Alex Ferguson sold the defender/midfielder to Everton. It was a defining moment in Phil’s career, who has now completed
sixteen years of professional football. Recently, the ex-United player revealed his ambition to make it as a manager one day.
Moyes spoke highly of his club captain as he said, “Phil will find it when it comes to it, when you have to get results for the team you soon become nasty and horrible. I'm sure Phil can do that. But he has all the other credentials
- he's a great leader, a good motivator, and he loves the game. It is really important you actually like football that you want to be involved and are willing to put in the hours. There are an awful lot of people who think 'yeah, I'll have a go at that,' but
actually don't want to put in the hours and the time. I've got to say, when you go into football management, it's an all-consuming job."
Moyes further stated, “I'll advise him, and I have done so by telling him to take his coaching courses, he knows that at any time, if he wanted any help or wanted time working with the younger players, we would give it to him." However,
David Moyes was quick to outline that Neville is not beyond his playing days just yet. The Scottish national said, “When you're playing and you're at his age, it's difficult to try and put your concentration and preparation into playing. The preparation Phil
puts into playing takes up all his time because of his age.
The Everton managed went onto say, “Folk think it's easy, but it isn't. You have to train as hard, maybe harder, and you have to rest more. You have to make sure you are correct in what you are eating. So if you want longevity then
you have to do that, and sometimes when you are doing that, it makes it difficult to go on coaching courses or coming in at night to take the under-14s or 15s. But at the right time Phil will do it, and I don't think it's quite the right time yet."
Following a poor start to the season, Everton have suddenly picked up form as their squad has recovered some of its injured members. The Toffees are now unbeaten in their last four games, in doing so the Merseyside club has gathered
eight points from these four matches in the English Premier League. Everton next face Stoke in the English Premier League on the 30th of October, 2010. It will be a tough test for Moyes’s men who have been hot and cold during the course of the season
thus far.
Moyes is certainly not taking his opponents lightly as he expressed, "Stoke have a pretty good side. Tony Pulis has spent a few bob on new players, strengthening the team, and they are always going to be solid and hard to beat. They've
a couple of wingers in there (Matthew Etherington and Jermaine Pennant) who are important to them, and big Kenwyne Jones up front, so they've the balance of a good side."
