English Premier League News: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits to FA misconduct charge
Arsene Wenger will find himself banned from today’s Carling Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur after admitting to the FA’s misconduct charge in the game against Sunderland over the weekend.
Wenger is also scheduled to chalk out around eight thousand pounds as part of his fine for the behaviour that the manager displayed during his team's draw this past Saturday against Sunderland. As a direct result of his actions
the manager will be banned from the touch line at White Hart Lane for tonight's match between Arsenal and Tottenham.
The FA were reported to have contacted the manager earlier today regarding the weekend match and charged the manager with "using insulting and/or abusive language and behaviour amounting to improper conduct".
Arsene Wenger began his complaints with the fourth official shortly after Alex Song was given his marching orders on the fifty fifth minute. However he still seemed to be calm and composed but all h**l broke loose once Darren Bent
scored a late equalizing goal. The gist of Wenger’s complaints was that Bent had scored the goal after the allotted injury time had passed.
Though often these disciplinary actions would take weeks to resolve, the FA’s fast track disciplinary procedures implemented this season meant that a quick settlement was always possible.
The manager, being the professional that he is, decided to take the one match ban for his team’s League Cup game rather then in a Premier League or a Champions League game. The manager is expected to field a host of young players
for tonight's game and hence will have his assistant manager running the show at the sidelines.
Wenger will also be able to view the game from a fan's point of view for a change. This could also prove to be a blessing in disguise, since the manager will be able to better analyze the game and see which players are performing
over and under par. In other words, the French manager will get the much needed break that he deserves and will get time to cool down. This could prove to be beneficial to both the team and the manager in the long run.
Nonetheless, Wenger isn't the only manager to have lost his mind following some poor time keeping by the officials on the pitch. The week prior to this weekend's round of matches Everton's manager David Moyes and his assistant
manager were handed a similar penalty following the team's three all draw with Manchester United. Everton were deep in the United half and on the verge of scoring a fourth goal, when the referee blew the whistle to end the game. This resulted in Moyes flipping
out, since he felt his team could have beaten United and it would have given his team a much needed boost.
