Steven Reid, the multi talented player from West Brom, has suffered an injury and would not be available for a month and a half at least. Reid suffered from some torn cartilage in the game against Manchester United on Saturday.
The midfielder was seen limping off the field in the 2nd half during the 2-1 loss to Manchester United, and now would be out of action till mid of February at least.
West Brom manager, Roberto di Matteo said that Reid is a very important player for them, and he always plays with his heart on the sleeves. The manager added that he would be sorely missed till he is out. Roberto said that losing such a player impacts the
team more because he is a utility player and can provide cover for various different positions. The former international for Ireland began his career at Milwall before making his name in the Premier League at Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 in 2003.
Reid did not have an injury free time at Blackburn and was plagued by a number of injuries while playing at Ewood par. Reid was loaned out to Blackburn last season and played an integral part in West Brom’s promotion to the top division, and he was later
permanently signed by the Baggies. Reid has played 23 games for Ireland and also participated in the 2002 FIFA world cup; he then called it in for international football to concentrate on his club career.
In other news, Manchester United have agreed an offer from Hull City to sign the 21 year old defender, James Chester. The youngster had been on loan to Carlisle United in the current season, and was not part of the team when they lost to Tranmere on Monday.
Hull manager Nigel Pearson said that he is glad that the offer has been accepted, and added that he would want to complete the deal as soon as possible and have Chester playing in the Tigers’ team. Pearson said that Chester is an extremely talented player
and would give immense strength to their backline.
