English Premier League: Players who could replace Dider Drogba
Rumors have been spreading fast of Manchester City planning to spend an outrageous amount to capture, Chelsea’s prolific goal scoring machine Dider Drogba. Although they are just rumors, Chelsea need to take into account that the deal might happen, hence they need to look for possible replacements for the striker. Here is a list of players who could replace the player and fit into the Chelsea style of play.
Luis Fabiano, the Brazilian striker has had more than an impressive World Cup. He managed to score three goals for the Brazilians. The twenty nine year old has been more than decent at Sevilla and has openly welcomed a move away from Spain. He combines brilliant positioning with skill, strength and quick feet and has a venomous strike. The only negative factor though is his age. He’s already twenty nine years old so he only has a handful of seasons left in him.
Wolfsburg’s best player by a mile, Edin Dzeko is anything but shy in front of goal. The twenty four year old player from Bosnia has been on a goal scoring spree ever since he arrived in the Bundesliga. He is a complete forward. He is unselfish and works hard for the team, he has great ability and presence of mind. He like to punish defenders if they ever commit mistakes. He is still young but possess most of the same qualities as the Dider Drogba himself, perhaps in the long run he may even out do him.
The AC Milan forward, Alexandre Pato has been a long term target for Chelsea. He might have been a bit out of form recently but he possesses the ability to destroy any defense if given the opportunity. He is only twenty years old but he has talent way beyond his age. His age may be a major plus point since he could potentially be a long term investment for the club. He however needs to work on his physical presence if he wishes to survive in the Premier League.
Sergio Aguero is another player who has been a long term target for the West London club. He is regarded to be the next big thing. He has lightning pace and outstanding instinct to scoring goals, he may very well be able to able to take on the duties that Drogba had been doing for so long. But his height might be a draw back and may force Chelsea to look elsewhere.
The Argentinean goal scoring machine Gonzalo Higuain with his predatory goal scoring skills and great heading ability may just be the man for Chelsea to consider. He had been given the nod over numerous other strikers by Diego Forlan to be the lone striker in the Argentinean World Cup side and he didn’t disappoint. He managed to score a total of four goals during the tournament. With his experience and unselfish style of play he is the most competent candidate for Chelsea to consider.
