We continue with other predictions here in part 2 as we look at four more Premier League fixtures. We start off with the game at Ewood Park between Blackburn and West Ham.
Blackburn Rovers v West Ham United
If Chris Houghton’s sacking came as a shock, Sam Allardyce’s departure was nothing less than embarrassing for the state of the game in England. It is difficult to understand that how the new manager can get Blackburn into top six by the end of the season,
especially when he will have only $5m to spend in January.
Avram Grant must be thinking how he still has the job, considering what has been going on at other clubs. It has been reported that he has three games to save his job, starting against Blackburn this weekend.
Even without Sam, Blackburn are expected to produce a strong performance against the relegation battlers West Ham.
Prediction: 1-0
Wigan Athletic v Aston Villa
Wigan got a lucky draw against Everton last weekend. With 2 draws and 2 defeats in their last four matches, a win could do wonders for Roberto Martinez’s side. They desperately need points and with Charles N’Zogbia likely to leave in January, Wigan can find
themselves in deep trouble come the end of the season.
Gerard Houllier has been under pressure recently after his side lost three on the trot. However, last weekend they got much needed win last weekend and would like to build on that at the DW Stadium. A win could take them as high as eighth in the table, above
the likes of Newcastle and Liverpool. This is a great opportunity or Aston Villa to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
Prediction: 1-2
Liverpool v Fulham
Liverpool fans, players and manager will be breathing easily at the fact that they have three home games from their next four fixtures. Roy Hodgson continues to be a target of Liverpool fans thanks to is negative approach, especially away from home.
This is a tricky match for Liverpool as they will need to go all out against a team who are the masters of draws and would happily take a 0-0. Steven Gerrard is not yet 100% and may start on the bench. Raul Meireles and Lucas seem to be doing a good job
at the moment and it is expected since David Ngog has been ruled out.
Fulham on the other hand would love to get anything from this game. They already have a record 10 draws from 17 premier league games and 11th will not disappoint any Fulham fan. Fulham are weak going forwards and would rely on the occasional counter
attacks to get a goal.
Ro Hodgson knows all that he needs to know about his former club and should be able to motivate his players to go all out for a win.
Prediction: 2-0
West Brom v Wolverhampton Wanderers
West Brom were unlucky to come away with nothing from their game against Aston Villa and will look at this fixture as a chance to rectify their last week’s result. They ended their poor run with back to back wins but lost to rivals Villa and now they face
Wolves in yet another Midlands derby.
Wolves seem to be heading in the right direction. They have been a touch unlucky with the fixture program and now they have a few injuries to deal with. They took all three points last weekend and will be hoping to build upon that.
As this is a derby, expect a few challenges flying here and there, and although west Brom will start as favourites, I expect wolves to take at least a point from this one.
Prediction: 1-1
