English Premier League: Predictions - Week 11 (Part 3)
This weekend, we have 3 games on Sunday and the big match is between improving Liverpool side and champions Chelsea. Here are the predictions for all the three games including the big one:
Arsenal vs. Newcastle United:
Arsene Wenger rested most of his senior players for the mid week Champions League clash. His star players will now be ready for 3 matches in 8 days time. Arsenal is the form team in the Premier League at the moment with 3 wins on the trot.
They left it late against West Ham last week and the man, who scored the winner, Song Belong, will sit out this weekend’s clash.
Newcastle will be on a high after thrashing their neighbours 5-1, seven days ago. However, they will be wary of the quality that Arsenal possesses, but we expect Newcastle to play their own brand of football and not park the bus.
This could benefit Arsenal as they will get more space to work with and as we all know that if Arsenal are given any time and space on the ball they can simply rip you into shreds with their neat and clean passing game.
Expect this one to be an enthralling encounter, Newcastle will travel to Emirates with newly installed confidence and would like to take the game to Arsenal, which sets it up nicely for a lovely Sunday afternoon.
Prediction: 3-1
West Brom vs. Manchester City:
West Brom have been a revelation this season. On Monday night, they fought back after being down to 9 men. They have shown that they can play football and have got passion and work ethic to match that.
Manchester City, who have picked up 7 points from a possible 15 on their travels, will have to be in top form to get all three points. Mancini would also have to look at his tactics and play the team which goes out and shows some passion, which they desperately
lacked in their last weekend’s defeat at Molinuex.
The result of this game will depend mainly upon the attitude of the City players. Some of them have already shown little desire and seem to have different ambitions to those of the club. Yaya Toure’s drive back home at half time and Tevez willing to spend
more time in Argentina does not bode well for the unity in the dressing room.
If City can get their act together they can get all three, but West Brom have shown more than enough to suggest that they are no roll overs. They will believe that this is not a bad time to play City and will be hoping to take something from this game, which
we believe they can.
Prediction: 1-1
Liverpool vs. Chelsea:
In the clash of the weekend, Liverpool take on champions Chelsea who have been brilliant right from the first whistle of the first game of the season.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have had so much going on, a new manager, a new regime, winless streak. But now they seem to have settled with 3 wins in their last 3 games.
Chelsea have a five point cushion at the top of the table and would feel that a draw would not be a bad result, especially considering that both Manchester United and Arsenal have tough fixtures ahead of them while they themselves have a couple of home games.
Liverpool, on the other end, are the underdogs. We can’t think of the last time when this fixture seemed to be a miss match. However, this isn’t the worst time for Liverpool to play the champions. A win could kick start their season, but that is highly unlikely.
A draw would also be a good result for Liverpool and both teams would be looking to make sure they don’t lose this match.
This makes it an ideal match to end in a draw. It could turn out to be a boring goalless draw; however, we are not that boring and believe there are goals in this game.
Prediction: 1-1
