English Premier League Recap: Conclusions and observations from the Chelsea v Arsenal game (Part 1)
It was fairly evident that the team that was most dominant on the night was Arsenal but despite that fact, Chelsea went on the crush the Gunners by a score line of two goals to nil. What we can conclude from this is that Chelsea
might just be the stuff Champions are made off and could potentially be on their way to retaining their crown. Chelsea didn't see the ball for major portions of the match but still managed to make the most of the very few chances that they really had. The
team successfully managed to bounce back from the defeat to Manchester City and proved to everyone once again as to why they are one of the most feared teams around.
Arsenal can rightfully complain about the fact that Alex Song was fouled by Ramires in the build up to Chelsea taking the lead through Didier Drogba. However they can't blame the entire match on that one moment. Chelsea were easily
the more physically dominant, stronger and above all more efficient side on the night, despite Arsenal retaining more possession.
Laurent Koscielny had a decent game against Chelsea when everyone expected him to fall flat against the mighty Blues. However the game could have been significantly different had the defender managed to keep his header on target
in the opening stages of the game. The defender managed to miss his header from three yards out, as in a rather weird manner, he seemed to turn his back to the ball at the very last minute and as an end result it hit the back of his head and sailed over the
cross bar. Just what the defender was thinking at that moment can only be known to him.
Didier Drogba has now scored thirteen goals in the thirteen appearances he has made against Arsenal. This is a remarkable record and does justice to Drogba's status as being the best striker in the Premier League and quite possible
the world at the moment. However, Drogba can't just be restricted to being called the best striker in the world. The player offers so much more to the side then just scoring the goals. Drogba has proven to be a provider of goals over the past and has become
the team’s leading dead ball specialist. The player has turned out to be one of the best overall gifted players in the world as he has gotten older. Some might even call Drogba the human reincarnation of fine wine to an extent. Thanks to Drogba's fine contributions,
most people haven't even noticed that Chelsea's star play maker and talismanic midfielder Frank Lampard has been missing from action for quite some time now.
