English Premier League Recap: Conclusions and observations from the Chelsea v Arsenal game (Part 2)
Another Chelsea player who seems to be getting better as he spends more time at the club is new boy Ramires. The Brazilian was brought into the side this past summer and after a couple of disappointing performances, especially
against Manchester City, he has finally started to display just why he was brought to Chelsea in the first place. The player has added another dimension to the Chelsea midfield; he is constantly running back and forth winning the ball and this has allowed
the likes of Michael Essien to go on and display their attacking side a bit more than they used to in the past.
Despite the game being Arsenal's to take in the second half, the team failed to register a single goal. The team is clearly feeling the absence of Cesc Fabregas along with Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie. Had those players been
present the game could have had a significantly different outcome on the night.
Jack Wilshere tried his level best to give a world class performance and managed to do just that to some extent - but despite him trying as hard as he did, he just isn't the same player as Fabregas and has a long way to go before
he can even hope of being associated on the same level as that of the Spanish midfield wizard.
Despite Arsenal playing the best and most beautiful football around, the team just can't seem to produce the results to back up that status. Arsenal are currently fourth in the Premier League rankings and haven't really scored
as many goals as they would have liked to. It is high time for Wenger to decide whether he wants his team to play pretty football or effective football instead.
Despite the fact that Alex's free kick was one of the best that the Stamford Bridge crowd has ever seen, it would have been a completely different story had Arsenal's defenders been more aware of what was going on. Florent Malouda
was clearly looking to create a hole in the wall prior to the kick being taken and all Arsenal had to do was to place a defender behind the Chelsea player and the goal would have never happened. However, being Arsenal, they failed to do just that and hence
it cost them a second goal.
There was some good that came out of the match for Arsenal. Lukasz Fabianski had one of the best games that he has had for the team in recent history and looked to do almost everything right on the night. The keeper was only beaten
by two goals that were unstoppable by any keeper out there and can't be held responsible for conceding them.
Andrei Arshavin has gone from being one of the best players on the Arsenal side to being one of the most inconsistent and infuriating. It is unclear as to what the player is going to do in any game for the team now as he tends
to play all his games in patches; that means the player is either remarkably good during patches in the game or remarkably bad.
