English Premier League Recap: Part 3 – the weekend's losers
Every weekend, Premier League stars take to the field and try to help their respective teams come out on top at the end of ninety minutes. However, there can only be one winner and one loser at the end of the ninety minutes. Here is a look at the losers
from this last week of matches.
Liverpool: Liverpool, have been on a fall from grace that seems to have no end in near sight. The team ended at a miserable seventh spot last season and seem to be doing even worse this season.
So far the team has managed to win only one game against West Brom and have drawn with Arsenal and lost to Manchester City and Manchester United.
This past weekend the team looked like it was going to re spark their season, with a draw against United. The team went two nil down, but managed to pull two late goals back and were looking to hold on to United to earn a very valuable point at Old Trafford.
However that was not the case as the team soon let their authority on the match slip and United scored a third match winning goal.
This defeat means that Liverpool have only managed to win three games in their last ten games. That is by far one of the poorest records the team has ever had. If Roy Hodgson doesn’t manage to pull the team together soon, then it is safe to say that Liverpool
would struggle to make it into the top half of the Premier League table at the end of the season.
Stoke City: Stoke were expected to sail clear of the bottom half of the Premier League table, considering all the big name signings that the team made in the last few days of the transfer window. However that is yet to happen, the team managed
to draw their last game against a poor West Ham side, that everyone assumed that Stoke would win with ease. This inability to win against a rather weak West Ham side, is what has made Stoke appear on the weekend’s failures list. The team is however expected
to bounce back from this draw and go on to beat Fulham this coming weekend. Many experts also believe that Stoke have what it takes to break into the top ten of the Premier Leage.
Sam Allardyce: Sam Allardyce has been at the bottom of almost every joke over the past couple of days. The manager claimed that he would win a double or at least a league cup, every season, if he was given teams like Inter
Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea or Manchester United to appoint.
The manager even went on to say: "If my name was Allardici I would get more respect and would be offered bigger jobs."
People would have taken the manager seriously, if he had not been managing a team that was doing so poorly and only looked lethal on dangerously long set pieces. The Blackburn side that he is currently managing has more than decent players in it, however
Allardyce has managed to lose one and draw two of the last three games that he has managed.
Allardyce, says that he wishes to manage a bigger team and would more than definitely get the results that everyone is hoping for. However the managers recent displays and poor decision making has led everyone else to feel otherwise. Allardyce has little
or no experience with big name players and is currently having problems containing the squad he has at Blackburn. The manager is quite possibly going to be hitting a midlife crisis soon, following these outbursts.
