English Premier League Recap: Part 3 – the weekend's winners
Every weekend, Premier League stars take to the field and try to help their respective teams come out on top at the end of ninety minutes. However, there can only be one winner in every match and here is a look at the winners from this past weekend.
Tottenham: Tottenham are apparently having a lot of problems playing in more than one league, for the very first time in the team’s history. They are currently participating in the Premier and the Champions League. Apart from that fact,
playing three games in a single week is a pretty stringent task as it is.

Also apart from that, if a team has players getting injured left and right, the team is bound to run into some problems sooner or later.  It is also very alarming to realize that a major number of players in the Tottenham side are also failing their fitness
tests going into the games because of all this added pressure.
However Harry Redknapp, has managed to shuffle his team with inch perfection and is getting the optimum results that he could hope for out of the players. This past weekend, the managers decision to rest Alan Hutton in the midweek, Champions League clash
proved to be the difference on the night. Tottenham were losing to the Wolves going into the last few minutes of the match, however once Hutton was brought on to the pitch, he proved to make the difference on the night that helped Wolves get a draw in a match
where everyone thought they were bound to lose.
This proves that Tottenham might just be the real deal this season and actually deserve to be in the Champions League this season ahead of Manchester City.
Rafael van der Vaart: Tottenham made two last minute signings on the dead line day of transfers. Those signings were off, William Gallas and Rafael Van der Vaart.
Out of the two signings Van der Vaart has clearly looked the brighter of the two. Gallas has been nothing short of sloppy so far, falling all over the place and failing to actually make any impact on the side. On the other hand Van der Vaart has been a phenomenal
presence in the Tottenham side ever since he arrived.
The player arrived for a mere eight million pounds on the last day and practically the last possible second on the transfer day, the player cost the team a mere eight million pounds, which is a bargain in any ones books. However with him Van der Vaart has
brought a whole new dimension to the Tottenham side.
The London based team were doing more than decent with the midfield that they had prior to the players arrival, but they didn’t really have a play maker. The team had players like Luka Modric and Tom Huddlestone, but neither one of them was really an attacking
central midfielder capable of dictating the play. Van der Vaart ever since his arrival has become the heart and soul of the Tottenham team, he dictates almost every play and is at the middle of all the teams attack. He is easily shaping up to be the best buy
of the season.
