English Premier League: Red’s star Insua in talks with Fiorentina
Viola have come and declared that they are currently holding talks with the Liverpool left wing back, Emiliano Insua. Insua, who is an Argentine national signed up for Liverpool when their ex-manager Rafael Benitez was in charge at the club.
Liverpool completed his signing from Boca Juniors, shortly after his temporary loan spell at the club ended. Insua was highly rated in his teens and was frequently touted as one of the best young wing backs in the world. Insua began his career with the youth team Pinocho in Argentina. He was quickly spotted by the Brazilian club Boca Juniors scouts and was brought to the club. Insua was born in Buenos Aires in Argentina; therefore the move to Boca Juniors proved to be a convenient one for him as the club itself is also based in Insua’s hometown.
Insua really exploded onto the international youth scene tas a result of his regular and consistent performances for Argentina’s Under-17 national team. A lot of scouts spotted the little Argentineans talent and approached Boca Juniors to for a deal, Liverpool were one of those clubs and their negotiations with Boca Juniors succeeded but it was only agreed that Insua will make a temporary loan more at first to the English club. An eighteen month loan deal was agreed between Liverpool and Boca Juniors on 28th of November, 2006.
Insua’s loan to Liverpool started in January of 2007 and he soon got a chance to make an impact as he got his first team debut against Portsmouth in an English Premier League match. However as the season progressed, Insua made fewer first team appearances for the Merseyside club, at the end of his debut season at the club, Insua had only managed one more first team appearance.
In the summer of 2007, Insua’s loan move to Liverpool was converted into a permanent deal for the Argentinean defender. In the following season, Insua again failed to secure a regular first team berth for himself in the Liverpool squad as he only played for three times during the season for the club’s first team. Nevertheless, he won the Reserve English Premier League with Liverpool reserves in the 2007-2008 season.
On 2nd of July 2008, Insua signed a new three year contract with Liverpool. In the 2008-2009 season, Insua got a first team run due to Andrea Dossena’s poor run of form and Fabio Aurelio’s injury. Insua performed admirably during these regular appearances for the club and cemented his place as the first choice left back at the club.
Recently as Liverpool’s new manager Roy Hodgson has taken over from Rafael Benitez, Liverpool are looking to introduce some new blood to their lineup and have deemed Insua excess to their needs at the moment. One of the club’s interested in the young Argentinean is Fiorentina from the Italian football league; Serie A. Fiorentina’s Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino told calciomercato.com that, Viola are currently in talks with Liverpool because they are interested in Insua’s services. He also told the website that negotiations have been going on since the past few weeks.
Insua’s agent on the other hand, neither confirmed nor denied an approach by Fiorentina for his client. He said that he does not want to comment about Fiorentina’s interest in Emiliano Insua.
