English Premier League: Remy interested in Liverpool
French striker Loic Remy has expressed his interest in Liverpool through his agent Guerra. Remy, who currently plays for Nice has been a transfer target of various clubs such as Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham.
The French youngster joined Nice from Lyon in 2008 for a record 8 million Euros. He was assigned the number 7 shirt at the French club and he made his debut against Le Harve in the French football league match, a match that Nice eventually lost by 1-0. In his first seven matches for Nice, Remy scored a total of six goals. And in his first season for Nice, Remy scored eleven goals in thirty six appearances for the club in all competitions.
In the 2009-2010 season, Remy scored fifteen times for Nice in thirty three appearances. On January 20th after a league game loss to Auxerre, some of the Nice fans spat on certain members of the club squad. One of those members was Remy as well. In the following interview, Remy declared that such actions from the club supporters were completely unacceptable. He also warned that if he had to face such actions in the future, he would part ways with the French club.
Remy has also played for the French national team. His first appearance for the French national team came on June 2nd as a substitute replacement for Samir Nasri in a match against Nigeria. According to latest reports, Liverpool’s technical director Eduardo Macia has been tracking the French striker since the past five years and now has told Liverpool’s present manager Roy Hodgson that he should proceed with a bid for the French international.
Liverpool can very well soon lose their most prized asset in the shape of Fernando Torres, who is a target of Chelsea’s transfer plans this summer. Chelsea have already had a 30 million pound bit rejected by the Merseyside club but according to latest reports, London club have gone to Liverpool again with an improved bid of around 50 million pounds.
If Fernando Torres does indeed move to Chelsea F.C, Liverpool will only be left with David N’gog as their main striker. David N’gog, who is a French national himself, has failed to impress during his time at Liverpool and some fans have even called for him to be sold from the club because of his below par performances.
Last season due to Fernando Torres’s injuries, N’gog received several first team starts but he failed to capitalize on these opportunities. It should also be noted that because of the Torres’s injuries, Liverpool failed to finish in the top four of the English Premier League last season.
Remy’s agent, Guerra has said that his client is interested in Liverpool and Liverpool are interested in his client. He also added that there has been interest from West Ham as well as Tottenham from the English Premier League. Guerra went onto say that Loic is like Thierry Henry and if he comes to the English Premier League, he can be a massive success.
Guerra also said that Remy is a sensational player, with two quick feet. He also emphasized the fact that Remy is a complete football and Liverpool will love him.
