English Premier League Roundup - Chelsea, Nov 4th 2010
Chelsea's manager, Carlo Ancelotti believes that star midfielder Frank Lampard would make his comeback in this weekend’s fixture against Liverpool. The English midfielder has not featured for Chelsea in the previous 11 fixtures owing to a groin issue but
is expected to be back with the side at Anfield. Although, Chelsea have done fairly well without the services of the 32 year old but they would still be happy to have the experience of the midfielder back in the outfit come this Sunday.
"Lampard started training with the team last week. I don't think he will be ready for Wednesday but for the next game in the Premier League against Liverpool. I hope he will come back quickly because we need to have this kind of player - he is a fantastic
player. Now the team without Lampard is doing very well. But when he comes back I think we will have him straight into the team. We have a lot of games, we have a game every three days and all the players will be involved," stated the manager.
Since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti in Premier League last season, the Italian has guided Chelsea to the first ever domestic double and is currently top of the table in the Premier League. The side thrashed Spartak Moscow 4-1 last night, thanks to two goals
by Ivanovic along with one each by Anelka and Drogba. The side would want to keep that momentum going into the crunch match against Liverpool this weekend and would want to extend their hold on the top of the table.
Chelsea have lost only one fixture so far in the Premier League along with one draw, while managing to win the remaining. The attacking trio of Florent Malouda, Didier Drogba and Nikolas Anelka have shared the goal load of the entire outfit and have already
thrashed the likes of Arsenal and Marseille, which makes them the most lethal English side currently.
Frank Lampard remains the highest goal scoring midfielder in history and enjoys the best form in recent years. He is an integral part of the Chelsea side and his services would be welcomed by all the players and the coaching staff.
