English Premier League – Second Half Report: Tottenham versus Newcastle United (Part 1)
The big surprise at the start of the second half was Tottenham’s first substitution of the match. Harry Redknapp made a tactical switch as he brought on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wilson-Palacios-c36948 in the midfield area. The change was seen as an attacking
one as Jenas played as an offensive-minded midfielder rather than a defensive one as Palacios did in the first half of the match. It were Tottenham who kicked the second half off as Rafael Van Der Vaart was played in through Roman Pavlyuchenko’s header.
The Dutchman ran up field before he crossed inside the Newcastle United penalty area but no one was at hand to connect with the cross as Newcastle United regained possession. In the 46th minute of the match, it was Gutierrez who crossed the ball
on the other side of the pitch as Gomez came out of his safety area to punch the ball away from Andy Carroll’s head. In the 47th minute, Newcastle United pilled on the pressure again but their move was broken down due to James Perch’s failure to
control the ball successfully near the right hand side of Tottenham’s defence.
In the 49th minute, Joey Barton and co. were awarded another free kick. The ex-Manchester City midfielder took the set piece as he aimed for Andy Carroll but the ball was just over the English striker's head as Tottenham regained possession. In
the 50th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 went in hard on Andy Carroll, the Newcastle striker was left on the ground as a result of the challenge but he recovered in time to resume his participation in the match for the Magpies.
In the 51st minute, Joe Barton was tackled to the ground by Younas Kaboul. The French centre back deliberately brought down Barton and the referee showed him the yellow card as a consequence. The ensuing free kick was taken by Andy Carroll who
shot straight into the wall. In the 52nd minute, it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062 who was on his way up the field with the ball for Tottenham Hotspur.
