English Premier League: Team Injury News - Saturday 30th Oct 2010 (Part 2)
Aston Villa Vs Birmingham
Left-back Stephen Warnock will be back in action for Villa after serving a ban for the Carling Cup win over Burnley.
Striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, Captain Stylian Petrov and defender Luke Young are all sidelined with injuries while 19 year old midfielder, Michael Albrighton is banned. Boss Gerard Houllier would be expecting Norway international John Carew to start against
Birmingham after the striker missed Villa’s win over Burnley.
Birmingham’s Alexander Hleb has been declared fit to play against Aston Villa. The on-loan Barcelona midfielder missed Birmingham’s 2-0 win over Blackpool due to knee injury.
Michel is back in contention after shaking off a shin injury suffered against Brentford in midweek but Cameron Jerome, Jean Beausejour and James McFadden are still absent for a long time.
Newcastle Vs Sunderland
Newcastle would welcome the return of key players after Chris Hughton fielded a weak side against Arsenal in the Carling cup.
Sol Campbell misses out due to a thigh injury. Steven Harper (shoulder), Leon Best (ankle), Hatem Ben Arfa (double leg fracture) and Dan Gosling (knee) are long-term absentees. Local boy, Steven Taylor has not been included in the squad after recovering
from a shoulder injury.
Kieran Richardson, who was doubtful for the derby, is expected to return after shaking off a hamstring injury in midweek, a great boost for manager Steve Bruce as the former Manchester United player had scored the winner in the reverse fixture of the derby
2 years ago.
Winger Ahmed Elmohamady is also available despite a foot problem suffered by the Egyptian in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa. Andy Reid is back in training after recovering from a hamstring injury. Frazier Campbell remains absent through a knee injury.
Bolton Vs Liverpool
Bolton striker, Ivan Klasnic might be available for Sunday’s game after the striker was suspended for the 1-1 draw against Wigan last week. Manager Owen Coyle has included the Croatian as he is currently on bail following his arrest on rape suspicion. Joey
O’Brien, Ricardo Gardner, Jloyd Samuel and Sean Davis are long term absentees.
Glen Johnson will undergo a fitness test before the game. The England defender has already missed the last 3 games for Liverpool due to a thigh injury. Dirk Kuyt is out with a knee injury but has an outside chance to play against Chelsea next week. Denmark
international, Daniel Agger will once again miss the match with a thigh injury sustained in Denmark’s European qualifiers.
Blackpool Vs West Brom
Blackpool captain, Charlie Adam is a major doubt for the home game against West Brom as the 24 year old needs stitches in his ankle after he picked up an injury in a tackle with Nikola Zigic of Birmingham in last week’s 2-0 defeat.
Adam is the only fresh injury worry for Blackpool as Billy Clarke, Alex Baptiste and Louis Almond are out for a long time.
West Brom coach, Roberto Di Matteo has only a few injury worries. The new signing, Peter Odemwingie has been missing due to a knee injury but he seems to be making good progress. West Brom would be hoping that defender Jonas Olsson (Achilles) and striker
Marc-Antoine Fortune (ankle) wil be able to make the trip to Bloomfield Road. Midfielder James Morrison is also a major doubt after he picked up a knock during training.
