English Premier League: Team Injury News - Saturday 30th Oct 2010
Arsenal Vs West Ham
Kieran Gibbs will be missing Arsenal’s home game against West Ham after he suffered knee ligament damage during Arsenal’s 4-0 win at Newcastle in the Carling cup.
Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia is out with an elbow injury, defender Thomas Vermaelen is still on his road to recovery from Achilles injury while France international Abou Diaby is also out with an ankle injury. Robin Van Persie and Aaron Ramsey are scheduled to return to training next week after their long lay-offs. Jack Wilshere is also unavailable as he serves the last of his 3 match ban.
West Ham skipper, Mathew Upson is almost certain to miss the match due to a hamstring injury suffered during the premier league match against Newcastle last week.
Frederic Piquionne is also doubtful for the match with a leg injury but West Ham manager hasn’t reported any major worries although he did admit that his team was tired after their Carling Cup triumph over Stoke in midweek.
Blackburn Rovers Vs Chelsea
Christopher Samba and Ryan Nelson would make their return for Rovers after their suspension that had made them miss the away game against Liverpool last week.
Jason Roberts is back after a leg injury but Steven Nzonzi and Vince Grella are out with hamstring and groin injuries respectively.
England international Frank Lampard will once again be missing the match due to hernia injury that has seen him miss the last 10 games but he is expected to play some part in Chelsea’s match against Liverpool next week.
Alex will start the match after missing the 2-0 win over Wolves but Yossi Benayoun (Achilles) and the new signing Ramires (ankle) will miss the match.
Everton Vs Stoke
Everton boss, David Moyes is yet to make an announcement on the availability of Mikel Arteta after the Spaniard missed the trip to White Harte Lane last week with a minor hamstring strain.
Jack Rodwell is still out with an ankle injury. Leon Osman (ankle), Marouane Fellaini (hamstring), Ross Barkley (broken leg) and Victor Anichebe (knee) are all out for this match as well.
Kenwyne Jones and Jermaine Pennant are hopeful to have recovered from a virus and played in the Carling Cup loss against West Ham through flu and were given Thursday off. Mamady Sidibe is a long term absentee.
Fulham Vs Wigan
Danny Murphy and Simon Davies look set to make a return for Fulham after sitting out the 2-1 defeat at West Brom in the Carling Cup. Dickson Etuhu (ankle) and Damien Duff (calf) will miss the match but are likely to return within two weeks.
Wigan defender, Steven Gohouri could be available after missing three games due to calf injury. Tom Cleverley is set to return after being ineligible to play in the Carling Cup. Emmerson Boyce and James McCarthy still remain sidelined through hamstring and ankle injuries respectively.
Wolves Vs Manchester City
Wolves captain, Karl Henry is set to return after serving a three match ban. Jody Craddock remains sidelined with a thigh injury but is expected to return in 2 weeks time. Stephen Hunt is expected to make his first full start after his move from Hull City.
Manchester City striker, Carlos Tevez will miss the match after suffering a dead leg in the 3-0 loss against Arsenal and has been permitted to go to Argentina before reporting on Monday. Belgian international, Dedryck Boyata will miss the match after receiving a red card against Arsenal. Aleksandar Kolarov and Adam Johnson are still not ready for action but Kolo Toure is expected to return to the starting line-up after missing three games due to a hamstring problem.
Manchester United Vs Tottenham
Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen are once again out with ankle and hamstring injuries respectively. Rooney is out for three weeks while Michael Owen is sidelined for at least 4 to 5 weeks. Ryan Giggs is also going to miss the match with a hamstring injury but will be back in training on Monday. Johnny Evans is expected to return from a hip injury.
Tottenham will be without the services of Tom Huddlestone after a groin injury forced him to miss the home game against Everton. Ledley King and Vedran Corluka will miss the match due to groin injuries while Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe, Jamie O’Hara and Jonathan Woodgate remain long term absentees.
