English Premier League: Top 3 bargains that are available out there
Not all premier league clubs have a lot of change to spare like Manchester City. There are a lot of clubs right now in the English league which are on a tight economic leash. Some of the top boys, like Chelsea and Manchester United are neck deep in debt, while Liverpool are suffering from a lack of finances at the club as well.
Clubs with financial clout will be looking for players who can give them above average utility while only costing financially wise fee. One player who offers utility along with entertainment is Craig Bellamy. Bellamy who was a regular for City last season is now 31 years old. City have been one of those clubs in the transfer market this summer, who have gone for everyone and anyone.
Manchester City have already brought in David Silva, Yaya Toure, Jerome Boateng and are currently linked with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Eden Dzeko, James Milner and Mesut Ozil. All of these players are quite young whereas Bellamy is at the wrong turn of his career right now.
Given the situation and the amount of competition Bellamy might be facing for a first team place at City, he might be cheaply available in the current transfer window. Clubs like Fulham, Everton and maybe even Newcastle United might be looking for firepower upfront to reinforce their squads and Bellamy is no slouch when it comes to scoring goals.
Another player who is a considerable bargain is Real Madrid’s golden boy Raul Gonzales. Not quite so golden right now, as he was when he was in his early twenties, Raul has spent his whole career at Real Madrid. With Mourinho in charge at Madrid now, Raul has been kindly informed that he is not required as a player at Madrid anymore.
Anyone in their right mind would sign up the Spanish striker who despite being 33 years old right now, is a renowned goal scorer and has been Real Madrid’s highest goal scorer in their history. What remains to be seen is who can match his wage demands which might be a big turn off for anyone who is interested in hiring him for an year or two.
Sol Campbell, the former Tottenham center back is someone who can add a lot of steel and experience to any team’s defense. When Sol joined Notts County last year, everyone in football thought that the former English center back had joined his last professional football club, but he made a fantastic comeback with his former club Arsenal. He isn’t as quick on his feet as he used to be in his early days but Campbell has shown time and again that experience should not be under estimated. He filled in brilliantly in the Arsenal defense last season after Gallas got injured. The only problem with Campbell has to be his fitness, from what can be observed through the latest pictures, it can be deduced quite easily that Sol has put on an extra pound or two.
