English Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur News

Redknapp not interested in Ashley Young
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has denied any interest in Aston Villa winger Ashley Young, who has been reported to turn down the chance to sign a new contract at Villa Park. Redknapp insisted he was not looking to sign Young, who was apparently looking for
a move away from Aston Villa.
Gerard Houllier, the Aston Villa manager, said he was disappointed at Young’s decision to wait until next summer to decide his future. Houllier expected some commitment from the young Englishman and his delay in renewing his contract only suggests that a
possible move is perhaps already underway.
However, according to Redknapp it won’t be Tottenham that will be welcoming the Villa winger at White Hart Lane. Redknapp admitted that Young was an excellent player but at the same time explained that there was no room for the 25 year old in his current
squad.
He told reporters, “I’m strong in those positions. I have Aaron Lennon , Gareth Bale , Nico Kranjcar on the left. I can’t get Nico Kranjcar on and he is a fantastic player. It’s hard enough as it is when you have a good squad because it’s a juggling act
all the time.”
Tottenham looking to snap up Monaco Striker
They might not have room for another winger, but they certainly have room for another striker. Reports are suggesting that Tottenham are targeting Monaco striker Dieumerci Mbokani, in hopes of strengthening their attacking line up.
Sources reveal that Harry Redknapp’s side have already made enquiries about the 24 year old striker, who is also linked with Liverpool. He moved to Monaco from Standard de Liege last summer and his contract expires in 2014, the move to England may come sooner
though.
Tottenham seem to be very keen on bringing the youngster to White Hart Lane, he is valued at around €7.5M-10M and has an impressive ratio of goal assists every 210.6 minutes. He has shown remarkable potential and has all the makings of a complete striker.
Gareth Bale told to take a break
Gareth Bale, the left back/left winger, has been told by Harry Redknapp to take a brief break before the next set of fixtures, which include tough challenges such as a trip to the dreaded Old Trafford and a visit from Inter Milan at White Hart Lane.
The 21 year old recently broke out of his shell and developed into one of the most exciting players of this season. He was undoubtedly the man of the match against Inter Milan where despite losing the match, the youngster went on to scored a magnificent
hat trick.
Redknapp said, “It will be good to give Gareth a couple of days extra off. I think the kid needs it. I think he's probably going to go away for three or four days and we'll get him in Thursday morning and it'll do him the world of good. He's tired. The kid
runs miles every game. He has unbelievable stats.”
