English Premier League: Transfer Gossip, 11th November
Santa Cruz to VfL Wolfsburg?
Manchester City out of favour striker Roque Santa Cruz has reportedly been offered to VfL Wolfsburg. An estimated price of €4 million has been demanded by Manchester City for the Paraguayan striker. It remains to be seen if Wolfsburg will
want to bring over the striker, who is yet to prove himself.
The striker moved to Manchester City for £17.5million from Blackburn, and never quite settled down at the club. He had a difficult first season, especially after the calf injury he sustained, even upon returning he had difficulty finding
a place in the starting eleven.
Santa Cruz scored unimpressive three goals for Manchester City in nineteen appearances last season. It’s no wonder Roberto Mancini wants to sell the striker, despite knowing that he will not generate the kind of funds City would be interested
in.
There were reports that the striker was on his way to Lazio in the summer but the move never went through. Now he may be out in the upcoming January transfer window, if the conditions are met. It’s no surprise that the striker is desperate
to leave, after failing a whole season in trying to prove himself.
He did not have an easy run at the Eastlands though; Santa Cruz has to face competition from the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and newly signed Mario Balotelli. All three are ahead of him in the pecking order and that leaves
no room for first team football for the former Blackburn striker.
Manchester United to Sign Mats Moller Daehli
Sources revealed that Manchester United could sign Mats Moller Daehli, a 15-year-old midfielder, as early as this week through early commitment. The Norwegian teenager has been on trial at the English club and if things go through as planned
than he could be arriving at Old Trafford this February.
The youngster currently plays for local side Stabaeck, but nothing will stop him making a move to Manchester United. He first came to Sir Alex Ferguson’s attention through former United star Old Gunnar Solskjaer’s football academies.
The 15 year old has first team training experience with his current club and the coach described him as “an exceptional talent” and potentially a “complete player”. If signed, Daehli will join the likes of the Da Silva brothers and the
young Bebe in Manchester City.
