Bassong Believes Bale Will Stay at Tottenham
Sebastien Bassong insisted that teammate Gareth Bale was staying with Tottenham Hotspur. The Welshman has received further interest by top clubs after his hat trick at the San Siro in the Champions League defeat to Inter Milan.
Gareth Bale was the best player for the Spurs in that European fixture. The youngster single handed scored 3 goals for his side, an unimaginable feat. The match ended in a nail biting 4-3 loss for Tottenham, but they will have hope for the second leg of
the fixture.
Bassong said, “He is such a good player and the way he was out there was just amazing. He's not going to leave though, I'm positive. He's staying with us. Everybody was already talking about Gareth Bale before he scored that hat-trick. But he has to keep
working and I'm sure he is going to be a top player.”
Everton Eye QPR’s Jamie Mackie
Reports reveal that Everton are eyeing Queens Park Rangers forward Jamie Mackie, in fact their scouts have been following the Scotland international for several weeks now. The 25 year old striker has an estimated price of £3 million, which will be no problem
for Everton.
Mackie has been given an efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 127.6 for the QPR side this season and has played a major role in their recent good form. He is contracted to the club until the end of the 2013-2014 season, it remains to be seen if Everton
make a bid for the player.
Santa Cruz to Leicester?
Out of favour Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz is reportedly considering a loan move to Leicester City, which is now being managed by Sven Goran Eriksson. The 29 year old seems to be aware that he will not be utilized despite being named in the 25
man Premier League squad list by Roberto Mancini.
The Paraguayan failed to make an impression at Eastlands and a calf injury did little to help, he scored a total of three goals in nineteen appearances for City. Pundits believe that the striker would have done better to stay at Blackburn, instead of making
the £17.5million move last summer.
At Manchester City, Santa Cruz has to compete with the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli, all of whom are ahead of him in the pecking order. Therefore Cruz is open to a move elsewhere, where first team football is guaranteed.
