English Premier League Transfer Gossip
Manchester City FC
Argentinean striker and club captain Carlos Tevez has been linked with a move to Spanish champions FC Barcelona. If the deal goes through, Tevez will see himself unite with his compatriots Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano and Gabriel
Milito.
The 26-year-old recently revealed that he does not intend to play football for a long period.
He said, “'I don't want to play anymore. I'm tired of football, but also tired of people who work in football. I don't want to play anymore, and I'm talking seriously. Football is only about money, and I don't like it.”
He added, “I'm going to play football for three or four years in Europe, then I will quit. I would play for Boca again only if my father asks me to do it, but I don't want to play in Argentina again.”
Manchester City are also reported to be interested in Barca’s young sensation Bojan Krkic and a swap deal involving Tevez might not be off the cards.
Barcelona, however, will not be willing to let go off their homegrown star, who is their only replacement for centre forward David Villa.
Manager Roberto Mancini is also keen on offloading his other strikers in search of landing a high-profile marksman to the City of Manchester Stadium.
Paraguayan international Roque Santa Cruz, who has not enjoyed playing time this season, has also been tipped to leave City. English Premier League clubs Everton FC, Liverpool FC and Blackburn Rovers are interested in acquiring
the striker’s services.
City’s reserve goalkeeper Shay Given and left back Wayne Bridge are also reported to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Aston Villa FC
Aston Villa winger Ashley Young is believed to be the transfer target of Premier League giants Liverpool FC and Manchester United.
However, manager Gerard Houllier is not keen on selling the player and has put a £80 million price tag on the winger. The England international, who has been a huge success at Villa Park since his move from Watford FC, has only
18 months left on his contract.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are also considering a bid for Rangers FC goalkeeper Allan McGregor. Villa’s current no.1, Bradley Friedel is now close to his forties, and Houllier is considering a replacement for the American veteran.
