Celtic Ready To Sign Olivier Kapo
Scottish giants Celtic have almost completed the deal for signing Wigan midfielder Olivier Kapo. The 30 year old Frenchman was released by Wigan Athletic this summer and since then has been busy training with Sunderland. It was the Sunderland boss Steve
Bruce who signed him for both his previous clubs, Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic.
According to recent reports, Kapo has been in contact with Neil Lennon, the Celtic manager, over talks of a contract. Sources close to the player revealed that the player was on the verge of signing a three year deal with the Scottish side. He would make
a good addition to Lennon’s side; the Frenchman is highly qualified and experienced.
The former French international, who scored three goals in nine appearances for his country, is a strong, creative player with a good vision. His best position in behind the striker and fulfils the role of provider to the fullest. He was loaned out to US
Boulogne from Wigan last season; he scored 2 goals in his 16 appearances for the French side.
Villa Boss Claims His Side Needs Reinforcements
Gerard Houllier, the newly appointed Aston Villa boss, claimed that his side desperately needed reinforcements this January. Houllier took over this summer when former Villa boss Martin O’Neill left after disagreements with the management. Houllier was thought
to get along with them better, but the Englishman has already started showing signs of discontentment.
The problem is not with the management as such, it’s more with their spending policy. Martin O’Neill was being forced to sell good players and was not allowed to bring in replacements. Houllier is facing a similar situation. Many players have already claimed
that they wish to leave. With their departure, it will be necessary to bring in more players, as soon as this January.
Houllier told reporters in a press conference, “If we spot a good international player who can add something, we'll take him. We need to bring some players in and will have one or two coming in January. Will it be up front? Not necessarily. I don't like
January windows but you need to be blind not to see there are areas where we're not blessed with numbers.
