English Premier League: West Bromwich seal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Vela-c8558 loan deal
West Bromwich Albion have fended off interest from Bolton Wanderers and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 to sign Arsenal’s Mexican striker, Carlos Vela on a loan deal until the end of the season. Yesterday, media reports suggested that Bolton were in
pole position to sign Vela on a loan deal, but it appears that Arsene Wenger preferred to loan the striker to Roberto Di Matteo’s side. This decision might have been effected by certain commitments from West Bromwich Albion’s side, regarding the amount of
game time that Vela might experience at the Hawthorns.
Arsenal will be hoping that Vela returns as a better player, just as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 did last season after his short, albeit useful stint at Bolton Wanderers. Vela’s pace and finishing ability will be a welcome addition to West Bromwich
Albion’s offensive lineup alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794. The Baggies have held their own in the English Premier League season so far, after gaining promotion from the Championship during the 2009-2010 season.
Roberto Di Matteo has built a strong side, which is capable of sustaining offensive pressure and unleashing spectacular counter attacks in return. This strategy was put in practice against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium where
West Bromwich won 3-2. The Baggies also secured a vital point at Old Trafford, after they came back from two goals behind, to gain a crucial draw against Manchester United.
Roberto Di Matteo welcomed the Mexican starlet by saying, "I'd like to officially welcome Carlos, who is an exciting signing for this club. Carlos is a new attacking option for us who can play both centrally and in the wide areas.
He also has great technical ability and pace and we're hoping he can make a big impact during the remainder of the season.”
He added, "There's no doubt that Carlos has the potential to become a great player and it will hopefully be a win-win situation, where we help him by giving him game time in the Premier League while he helps us achieve our goal.
Having said all that, we have to remember he is still a young boy learning his trade and we will be giving him all the support he needs during his time here." West Bromwich may give Vela a starting lineup spot in their next Premier League encounter against
Wigan Athletic on February 1.
West Bromwich Albion currently occupy the 16th spot in the Premier League rankings, as they have gathered 25 points from 23 games thus far. However, Roberto Di Matteo’s boys have scored quite freely, as they have netted
29 goals in the Premier League thus far.
