English Premier League: Where should the top flight teams end their respective seasons (Part 3)
10) Blackpool
Perhaps, the biggest success story of this season has been the storm caused by Blackpool. Very few people predicted last season that the seaside team will win promotion to the Premier League and when they did, many pundits considered the club to get relegated
easily and also thought that the team would be a push-over for most of the top-flight teams. However, sitting happily in 10th place just shows how much the likeable club has improved a further notch under Ian Holloway.
They even caused a stir when they beat Liverpool on their own turf at Anfield and put on some good performances against Aston Villa and Newcastle. They just need to build on more of their consistency that sometimes is lacking but will be far away from the
relegation zone when the season draws to a finale. Holloway has made the side and the Premier League even more fun to watch. He is an astute tactician and believes in the philosophy of playing exciting and attacking football. He is a guy who is liked by everyone
and Blackpool and Holloway really deserve to be in the league for a long time.
9) Liverpool
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 had the worst possible start to this season and even did some time in the dreaded relegation zone that prompted many people to call for Roy Hodgson’s head. But they should be glad that ‘Woy’ was given a chance and his side have recently seen a
revival that sees them move up the table slowly but surely. The takeover by NESV will definitely help them a long way and they should be hopeful of a better future.
Liverpool missed out on the Champions League last season and judging by the form of Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, it seems very unlikely that Liverpool will qualify for the Champions League. However, Europa League is
a clear possibility and the ‘Kop’ should be looking to make 6th position their own.
8) Newcastle United
Newcastle United, after relegation in 2008-09 season were not expected to make such an early comeback but after a rejuvenating season in the Championship, Newcastle won promotion under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Hughton and made a bright start to the Premier League. The first
season after promotion has indeed been a great one for the ‘Toon’ and lying in the 8th place means they must be hoping to either improve on the current position or just hold on to the spot till the season finishes.
Sacking of Chris Hughton still seems a very insane decision but his replacement, Alan Pardew hasn’t done a bad job either. His first match in charge was against Liverpool at home and his side beat them 3-1. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roy-Carroll-c31810 and Joey Barton have been the talismanic
figures of the campaign so far and will go a long way in helping Newcastle bring back the glory days.
7) Bolton
Who would have expected that Bolton will be flying so high this season?
Under the guidance of manager Owen Coyle, Bolton is yet another success story this season and are even in contention for a Europa League place. Coyle has practically changed the football philosophy at Bolton that was once too reliant on long ball football.
Wanderers players should be proud of their achievements so far and even if they can’t get a European berth, they should be able to finish the season in the top half of the table, something no one ever expected from the Lancashire club. This season has even
seen Swede, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Elmander-c18782 come to life and he has been there for Bolton all along in the attack.
