English Premier League injury update: Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers
Newcastle United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884 is making speedy progress during his rehabilitation.
The winger broke his leg in Newcastle’s match against Manchester City in October, following a rough challenge from defensive midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882.
It was feared that the former Olympique Marseille player will not be able to recover in time to feature in this season’s action.
However, the medical staff was amazed by the rapid progress made by the midfielder, when they met Arfa at the rehabilitation centre in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. It is believed that Hatem may be able to return to full fitness as early as February next year.
Former Queens Park Rangers' man Simon Stainroid is closely monitoring the Frenchman’s progress and is helping him get back to playing ways.
The 51-year-old Englishman said, “Hatem is doing really, really well. He's working really hard and he's in a centre where they work intensively from Monday to Friday on the injury and it is definitely helping him to make plenty of progress. You can never
tell 100 per cent but hopefully he's going to be back in the first week of February, which is just fantastic.”
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ midfielder Michael Kightly has undergone another knee surgery that will keep him away from training for at least six weeks.
Michael has already had an operation on his right knee, back in October.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 manager Mick McCarthy was hopeful that the player can make a full recovery to play a part in Wolves’ fight for survival.
The manager was also optimistic of Michael making a place in the 25-man list that has to be submitted at the end of January by every Premier League club.
He said, “Kights has had his other operation and he is buzzing. It will be the same timescale as the last - six weeks to get him out running and then we will see from there. The first knee he had done is brilliant, he is really buzzing about it, and the
left knee that he has just had done wasn't half as bad as the other one.”
McCarthy’s men are currently in 19th place, just 2 points above bottom-lying West Ham United. Their next fixture is a crucial one, against 18th place Wigan Athletic at the Molineux Stadium on 26th December.
