English Premier League roundup, Chelsea gear up for Manchester United
Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard, has expressed his helplessness to see Chelsea slump to a weaker opposition, while he was injured.
However, he believes that his side would be back to their winning ways within no time. The side has not tasted victory since 10th November and has succumbed to their worst form in the Premier League in nearly 10 years.
Chelsea are currently fourth in the English Premier League and would have turned the tally around, had Drogba converted the penalty against Tottenham Hotspurs, last week. The side showed improvements with the return of Frank Lampard in the squad, who was out of action for nearly three and a half months owing to a hernia issue.
The player made a successful comeback against the Spurs as a substitute and looks to help his side regain the top spot in the Premier League. English midfielder stated, "Every season you have patches and ups and downs and hopefully this is one to get out of the way early and refocus. It is easy for me not being involved to sit back and say it has been really bad, but it is a difficult league and we started off like a house on fire. We have had a bit of a hiccup and maybe we stopped doing the things that made us so good early in the season. Hopefully the Spurs game was a bit of a turning point".
Lampard’s return to the squad couldn’t come at a better time, as they face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. They would be looking for a win to end Manchester United’s 16 match undefeated streak in the Premier League.
United managed a 1-0 victory over contenders Arsenal this week and a win at Chelsea would establish them as favourites for their 19th Premier League title. Lampard, however, wouldn’t want that to happen and would do what is necessary to stop the Red Devils from extending their lead at the top of the Premier League.
