The 2010-2011 Premier League season has reached the halfway point for most of the teams and many new players have been like a breath of fresh air in the league. Let’s take a look at 10 players who really impressed this season.
10) David Silva (Manchester City)
The Spaniard was one of the first City signings in the summer spending spree and came to the club crowned as a FIFA World Cup 2010 winner with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011. Before his arrival at the City, Villa had already been linked with moves to a host of Premier League clubs.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 man has been a regular fix at Manchester City under Roberto Mancini and has been supporting Carlos Tevez in the attacking line. The 24-year old has scored just 1 goal and has 5 assists to his name which shows that the youngster hasn’t
yet lived up to the high expectations since his arrival at Eastlands.
Silva is still young and has a long way to go and he can easily become a great Premier League player.
9) http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Asamoah-Gyan-c6791 (Sunderland)
In this year's World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757, Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan made a huge splash and scored three goals in the tournament and two of those goals turned out to be winning goals.
After being impressed by his World Cup exploits, Sunderland manager, Steve Bruce, paid French Ligue 1 side Rennes £13 million for the striker's services. Since his arrival, Gyan has scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists.
Steve Bruce has been forced to make a formation that suits the Ghanaian owing to his great form. After playing the entire last season with a lone striker, Steve Bruce has introduced 2 strikers in the frontline.
Sunderland are currently in 7th place in the Premier League and are flying extremely high after a long time. If Gyan continues his impressive form in his first Premier League stint, Sunderland may even get a Europa League spot this time.
8) http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 (West Brom)
The 29-year old rookie (seems like an oxymoron), before joining the midlands club, spent most of his career at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 with CSKA Moscow.
The experienced Nigerian hasn’t struggled to adapt to life at the Premier League at all and has already notched up 6 goals and has 2 assists to his name that even earned him the man of the match status in a few games.
Since his arrival, Odemwingie has become the spearhead of Roberto Di Matteo’s side and plays as a lone striker that has given him a lot of responsibility.
In their comeback to the Premier League, the Baggies have impressed a lot and are currently in 14th place, far from the relegation zone, largely due to the presence of Peter Odemwingie.
7) Yaya Toure (Manchester City)
The Ghanaian arrived from Barcelona this summer and the powerhouse has been the last piece of the puzzle in Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s Manchester City side that is competing for a Champions League spot and is even in contention for the Premier League title.
Sitting in the middle of the three man midfield, Yaya Toure has added a lot of creativity in the midfield along with his great defense-unlocking ability and even scoring the odd goal.
On his arrival, a lot of people criticized City for paying £24 million for a player who was only a part-time player at Barcelona but Toure has proved the critics wrong after establishing himself as the fulcrum of the Manchester City side that is bursting
with talent.
