English Premier League transfer rumours: Chelsea FC, Manchester City
English Premier League champions Chelsea FC are eager to land Lazio’s midfielder Cristian Ledesma.
It is reported that Chelsea are lining up a lucrative bid worth €17 million for the Argentinean born footballer.
The 28-year-old is regarded as a box-to-box midfielder and he may prove to be an able substitute for veteran Frank Lampard. Frank has been hit with a serious groin injury and he has not played for the Blues since August.
It is believed that Carlo Ancelotti has been closely monitoring Cristian’s progress at the Italian club.
The west London club is also in pursuit of Bolton Wanderer’s centre defender Gary Cahill. The 24-year-old has established himself as a 1st team starter at the Reebok Stadium and also has an international cap to his name.
However, Ancelotti may face a tough battle from rival club Liverpool FC, who have also shown interest in signing the Bolton centre-back.
The Blues have been lacklustre in the defensive department in recent Premier League matches that has cost them valuable points; they have conceded 5 goals in their last 3 league matches. Pundits associate the poor performances
at the back to the absence of club captain John Terry, who is out of action due to a calf injury.
It is reported that the English champions are also keen on bringing Lokomotiv Moscow’s goalkeeper Guilherme Alvim Marinato to Stamford Bridge.
Carlo is keen on reinforcing his goalkeeping department as his side are fighting on domestic as well as European fronts. Guilherme is rated around £3.5million, a fee that Chelsea will be willing to pay for the
6’ 5” keeper.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are being linked with 18-year-old Brazilian sensation Zezinho. The young talent, who joined Santos at the start of this year, is a transfer target of top Italian clubs including AC Milan and FC Internazionale
Milano. The winger, who was tipped to join Arsenal FC last year, is rated around £8 million.
City are also targeting Spartak Moscow’s talented youngster Jano Ananidze. Jano, who has played for the Georgian national team, is still 18 and is a highly rated attacking midfield player.
Roberto Mancini, who expects a few of his players to leave the City of Manchester Stadium this January, will be keen on adding some young players to his squad.
However, the Italian is under heavy pressure to deliver silverware this season from the Manchester City owners, who have invested heavily in the club.
