English Premier League transfer rumours: Manchester City heavily involved
Manchester City are lining up a lucrative bid worth €45 million to lure Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale to the City of Manchester Stadium. City are also reported to offer players like Shay Given and Joleon Lescott in addition to
the transfer fees, to sweeten the transfer bid for the high flying Welshman.
Bale, who has been the centre of transfer rumours since his heroic hat trick against FC Internazionale in the UEFA Champions League, has a contract with Spurs until 2014.
However, club sources have iterated that they will not let their prized asset be taken away, come what may be.
City are also heavily linked with FC Barcelona right-back Daniel Alves. The Brazilian is reportedly not happy with his current pay scale and he has not signed a contract extension with the Catalan giants. Barcelona, who signed
Alves for a fee of £27 million from Spanish side FC Sevilla, have told the player that the club will not break the current wage structure of the squad in his favour.
This seems to be the main reason the English club is after the attacking full back, as City will be more than happy to offer Daniel his desired wages.
Manchester City, along with Chelsea FC are also pursuing Javier Pastore, who currently plays with Italian Serie A side Palermo.
The rumours arose after the club officially stated that the club would be ready to let the player leave at the end of the season.
The club’s president said, “Until the end of the season he will play for Palermo. Despite my interest for the club and player, I am already looking for his replacement. It will be impossible to find a replacement because he is
too good. Pastore could be sold if he shows the desire to leave.”
City have been told by VfL Wolfsburg that they will only be interested in letting their star midfielder Edin Dzeko leave the club if they receive a offer in the range of €40 million. Spanish giants Real Madrid and AC Milan have
also shown interest in the midfielder.
The club's director said, "The price is not a secret - Dzeko is € 40 million. There are many teams interested in Dzeko. We have not received any call from Madrid. I myself met Florentino Perez and Jorge Valdano when I went to the
Bernabeu to see Real Madrid-AC Milan and it was never mentioned.”
