English Premier League update: Aston Villa FC, Everton FC
Aston Villa FC manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
The American is in his late 40’s and is one of the oldest players in the English Premier League.
Therefore, the club is on the hunt for a younger keeper who can stand between the posts in the coming seasons.
It has been reported that Villa have been following http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Allan-McGregor-c5213.
However, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 player decides to carry on at Villa Park.
The manager said, “We are looking at several goalkeepers - and we've told Brad. We're looking for a keeper for the future. If Brad is fine in February, then we will keep him. We've told him that, if he feels okay.”
Meanwhile, Everton FC’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leighton-Baines-c21987 has voiced his plans for the future and has stated that he will continue at the Merseyside club until his contract expires.
Baines joined Everton in 2007 from Wigan Athletic FC and has since established himself as a pivotal figure in David Moyes’ defensive setup.
Baines has progressed rapidly as a professional footballer in the past seasons under the watchful eyes of Moyes.
His defensive qualities and his ability to make surging runs down the left flank have made him one of the best attacking left-backs in top-flight English football.
The defender was on the scoring sheet for the 2nd time this season, when he struck in the 1st
half in Everton’s 2-1 win against Manchester City on Monday night.
Baines had been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with Manchester United and German giants Bayern Munich interested in the English international.
However, Leighton has calmed his fans at Everton by vowing to honour his contract with the Blues. Baines signed a five-year deal in summer that will keep him at the club until at least 2015.
He said, “I haven't seen too much of the speculation, I don't know too much about it. I am just concentrating on trying to play for Everton. I am not looking elsewhere and I am completely focused on what I am doing here and
I have only just committed myself to the club.”
