English Premier League update: Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC
Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has revealed that defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 may not leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window.
Samba was rumoured to quit Blackburn after former manager Sam Allardyce was sacked earlier this month. A move away from the Riverside became more obvious when Chris was stripped off the captaincy, before Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against
Stoke City at Ewood Park.
However, the new manager still hopes that the Congolese international will continue to stay with the Lancashire club.
He said, “When I told Chris the plans for the transfer window he was very positive so hopefully he can look at it in a different light now and hopefully he will stay. Since I came back and explained what is going to be happening
they have been reassured and I don't think there has been anything negative.”
The French born centre-back was out of contention for the weekend’s game due to an ankle injury. However, Steve has said that if Samba is able to recover from his injury, he will be back in the line-up when the team is picked for
Tuesday’s away match against West Bromwich Albion.
Kean has the burden to produce positive results after it was confirmed by the club’s new Indian owners that he will retain the manager’s position until at least the end of the season.
Blackburn are 13th in the English Premier League table with 22 points off 19 games, and have failed to score 3 points, in their last 3 attempts.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur manage Harry Redknapp has expressed his satisfaction over his current squad.
Harry believes that he has enough depth in his reserves to cope with the fixture congestion in the upcoming months.
Tottenham are eying to emulate their last season’s success, when they managed to finish 4th in the Premier League. However, critics believe that Spurs’ involvement in 3 competitions this season, namely, the UEFA Champions
League, the FA Cup and the English Premier League, will prove to be a stumbling block.
Pundits have also predicted that Harry’s men will face fixture fatigue and will not be able to handle the pressure of the Champions League, while simultaneously trying to fight for domestic trophies.
The former Portsmouth FC boss denied such theories and revealed that he will not be forced to spend in the upcoming January transfer window.
He said, “We've got so many players here it would be hard fitting anybody in. We're not too desperate for anything. We're more than strong everywhere so unless it's someone who's a bit special I don't think we'll be doing too much.”
Sunday’s 2-1 away win over Aston Villa took Tottenham to 5th position in the table. They will now host Newcastle United at White Hart Lane on 28th December.
