English Premier League update: Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers FC
Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 has fully recovered from his hamstring injury that he suffered in the beginning of October this year, and has resumed full training.
The former Newcastle United man has not been able to remain injury-free since his move to Old Trafford from Newcastle United in 2009.
Owen has made 4 appearances in the English Premier League for the Red Devils to date.
He has mostly been used as a substitute rather than a regular striker by Sir Alex Ferguson. United already have a host of talent in their arsenal including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 and the sensational Mexican, Javier Hernandez.
That is the main reason why Michael has not enjoyed regular starts in the 1st team line-up this season. However, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC marksman remains determined to fight for his place in the squad.
On his return to full-fitness Owen said, “I'm fit and I've been in full training for three-and-a-half weeks."
"The hard bit now is getting back into the side, trying to force my way back into the squad. That's not easy at Manchester United.”
United’s next match in the Premier League is on Sunday against Sunderland FC at Old Trafford. They currently top the rankings with 34 points from 16 games and remain the only unbeaten side in the league.
Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers have announced that caretaker manager Steve Keane will retain his job as the team’s manager until the end of the season.
After the sacking of former manager Sam Allardyce, it was rumoured that the new Indian owners had been trying to lure Alan Shearer to take the reins at the Riverside.
A statement was issued by the club that read, “Following the departure of Mr Sam Allardyce as football manager of Blackburn Rovers Football Club earlier this month, Mr Steve Kean was appointed as manager. Venky's London Limited
- Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 - has decided to continue with Mr Steve Kean as manager, until the end of the season, June 2011.”
The new owners have set their sights on a top-5 finish in the Premier League, but Steve’s realistic efforts can keep the club in the top half of the table after 38 games.
Keane can now concentrate on the January transfer window where he has been promised a sum of £5 million to bring in new players.
Rovers are currently in 12th place, with 22 points from 18 games and their next fixture is against Stoke City at Ewood Park on Boxing Day.
