English Premier League update: Newcastle Manager Chris Hughton sacked
51 year old Newcastle United Manager, Chris Hughton has been sacked. The Manager received this acrimonious news this afternoon when he had been with the club for the last seven months, getting them out of relegation. Newcastle
United lost to West Brom yesterday, which could be the potential motive behind this move. Newcastle lost to West Brom 3-0, a result that flared up the senior management to take this ruthless decision.
Newcastle had done tremendously well by beating their bitter rivals, Sunderland, by 5-0 and then beating Arsenal to 1-0. Hughton was supposed to be the permanent manager of the squad as decided in October 2009 but the club decided
to revise this and wanted to renegotiate the contract. The Club’s website has confirmed Hughton’s departure. A statement from the club said, that it was grateful for the efforts of the coach but that it was now felt that the team required a coach with more
‘managerial experience’. It wished the coach the best of luck in the future. The move has also seen the departure of goalkeeping coach, Paul Barron.
Hughton has brought the club back to the limelight by hitting 11th place in the league table. He had done remarkably well by bringing back the team from relegation. Peter Beardsley has taken the charge of Newcastle United
as acting manager. The veteran Newcastle defender, Sol Campbell was stunned by the decision. He expressed his thoughts by saying, “This will hit the players hard. The players admired him, and liked him, and won't be happy now he's gone like this. Here is a
guy who has done an unbelievable job. He got the club back into the Premier league and any manager would have been rewarded for that with a new contract - but Chris wasn't”
