English Premier Leauge: Looking Back On the Summer Transfers – Part 2
Article Continued from Part 1.
He was part of the squad that won the Euro 2008 and the Spanish World Cup winning squad in South Africa this summer. He has made forty two appearances for international duty and scored ten goals so far. He was also a part of every single
qualification match in the World Cup and the Final match as well.
He made a move to Manchester City for a twenty four million Pound transfer and became the man right behind Carlos Tevez, still the player still has not made it to the level or contributed enough to the team that he may be called the best
signing.
The fact of the matter is that the Citizens have a very deep pool of talented players with all the new signings of the summer and especially in the midfield. But this player still seems to find the spot for the first team regularly, given
all the players it has been a strenuous task for Roberto Mancini to make a permanent starting eleven as he is constantly changing and experimenting with them but still David Silva is a player that seems to be a healthy ingredient in every concoction.
Ever since Silva’s move from Valencia he has made eight English Premier League appearances and has been in the starting line up in five of those matches.
He scored his first goal in the fixture against Blackpool that was almost three weeks ago, and now is finding some stability in Mancini’s system.
He is still behind players like Gareth Barry and James Milner but still as the season goes on and he finds more time on the field, his skills and contributions to the team are expected to improve.
Nikola Zigic, Birmingham
Nikola Zigic is the thirty year old Yugoslavian that plays as a centre forward, he currently plays for Birmingham City and started his youth career with Backa Topola in 1991.
Then finally he made the first team in 1998 and then after passing through numerous clubs he made it to Valencia in 2007 and stayed there for three years during which he spent a loan spell with Racing Santander’s for a year and this was
the club that he used to play for before Valencia.
Then finally in 2010 he made a move to the English Premier League and got signed to Birmingham City. On twenty sixth of May 2010 he signed a four year contract with the blues at an undisclosed transfer fee which was rumoured to be six
million pounds.
Even though this is not the most agile or fluid player in the team, he moves admirably well for his size as he is six feet and seven and a half inches.
Zigic has netted the ball twice this season and has had a leading hand in taking his club to the twelfth place in the English Premier League.
This player has done admirably well in his first flight with Birmingham City FC and now has become one of the tallest players in the Premiership close to only Peter Crouch.
Sometimes this player does look like a weary addition among the rank but this Yugoslavian keeps on proving himself with his amazing aerial abilities and the team is using him well.
Yaya Touré, Manchester City
This is the twenty seven year old Ivorian Coast Footballer, who just made a move from Barcelona. He started his youth career in 1996 with Mimosas, making the move to the big leagues in 2001 with Beveren.
