English Tea Muffin Recipe?

I had this recipe years ago - i made it at least twice a month. My family loved it. It was a recipe I got in Home ec. while in school.

Ingredients: brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon.

  1. I doubt this is the EXACT one you are looking for, but I promise they are tasty!  :)

    Ing:

        * 2 cups flour

        * 1/2 cup sugar, plus

        * 2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)

        * 3 teaspoons baking powder (slightly heaping)

        * 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

        * 1/2 teaspoon salt

        * 1/2 cup cold butter (no subs!)

        * 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped

        * 1 egg

        * 2/3 cup half-and-half cream or milk

        * 1 teaspoon cinnamon

        * 2 tablespoons brown sugar

    Dir:

       1.  Set oven to 400 degrees.

       2.  Line 16 muffin tins with paper liners.

       3.  In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and salt.

       4.  Cut in the butter with a pastry blender.

       5.  Measure out 1/4 cup to add to topping ingredients; set aside.

       6.  Add in the nuts to the flour mixture.

       7.  In a small bowl, whisk together egg and half and half cream, then add to the flour mixture; stir JUST until combined, mixture will be lumpy.

       8.  Spoon into muffin tins about 2/3 full.

       9.  To the reserved 1/4 cup butter mixture add in 1 teaspoon sugar and 2 tablespoons brown sugar; toss to combine.

      10. Sprinkle the topping mixture over each muffin.

      11. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

    3/4 c. sugar

    1 egg, beaten

    1 c. milk

    1/2 tsp. salt

    1/2 c. butter

    3/4 c. raisins (optional)

    2 c. flour

    1/4 tsp. cinnamon

    2 tsp. baking powder

    1/2 c. nuts, chopped

    Brown sugar

    Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Sprinkle brown sugar on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
