English conditions can test any batsman’s technique, believes http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358 – Cricket News Update
Ottis Gibson, the West Indies coach, has backed the out of form young batsmen, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386, who are struggling to perform well in the Test series against England, and said that the English conditions can test any player’s technique.
Edwards, who is the vice-captain of the West Indian Test squad, made his debut last year and impressed with his stroke-play. The right-handed batsman scored two hundreds and four half-centuries in his initial seven Tests and came to England as one of the
premier Caribbean batsmen.
However, the 27-year-old was badly exposed against quality swing bowling and could only manage eight runs in four innings of the first two matches at Lord’s and Trent Bridge.
Some of the commentators have raised question marks over Edwards’ ability and technique to deliver the goods at the highest level of the sport but Gibson believes that any cricketer can go through rough times, especially in English conditions, where the
ball tends to move more in the air and off the pitch, as compared to other parts of the world.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 coach expressed, "Just last year he got two Test centuries so obviously he can play but he's just having a tough time at the minute and that's what English conditions can do to you. It examines your technique and it challenges your technique.”
Bravo, on the other hand, is considered to be one of the most talented young batsmen and is predicted for greatness. The left-handed middle-order batsman has looked good in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 but has not converted his starts into big knocks.
The former Test cricketer is confident about Bravo's skills and is hopeful that the 23-year-old will make it big during the on-going tour.
"He's been in good form. He hasn't got the scores to show for it but he's been in good form. He's been hitting a lot of balls and hitting the ball very well in the nets. It's just transferring what you do in the nets into the middle and putting some scores
together but he's in a good place,” Gibson added.
