  1. If you are speaking of a child whose first language is not English...then the best thing for him is to play with other kids his age who will speak English with him.  This is easily done at a park if you are new to an area and don't know of any play groups yet.  Your local homeschool group might also have a playgroup, this would be a good opportunity for your child to play with children of varied ages, most play groups are for same aged children.  You can search with your state name and homeschool on any search engine and find local contact information.

  2. I take it you mean a game to help the childs English rather than a traditional English Game?

If its the former with a toddler almost anything, but talk to the child and engage it in conversation. The child will be looking to you for interaction and learning and your conversation and play will be vital in helping it learn English.

Point out what things are called like a car or a building brick and ask it to help you find them. It will then look for the things you are asking for and will be happy when it finds the right one. Be patient as it learns.

If you are thinking about learning letters, blocks with letters on are great.

To be honest the simplest toys and games are always the best. Whenever we have children round they always head straight for the box of wooden building blocks and wooden train set.

Some of the kids who use them are aged about 45. You should see the creations the parents build with their children especially dads!

All the electronic toys hold childrens attention for about 10 minutes then are cast aside.

Finally if the game and activity is fun for you as well as the child you will both enjoy it more and you will get bored less quickly.

    Hope that helps.

  3. junior scrabble ?

  4. i guess you can make up alphabet songs or something...yeah that'll work!

  5. Flash cards of basic words.  You can post them on everyday items like the refrigerator, microwave, door, window, etc.  I did this for my kids and they are reading and spelling basic words...  they are 3 1/2 & 5
