Does anyone know the meaning of the English terms: SOAPS, DIDLS, TP-CASTT. I have tried looking them up, but I couldn't find the meaning. So please either tell me or referring me to a website is good too. Thanx!

  1. SOAPS.  An acronym standing for Subject, Occasion, Audience, Purpose and Speaker. (relating to understanding text)

DIDLS. An acronym standing for Diction, Imagery, Details, Language, and Syntax (in relation to poetry analysis)

TPCASTT: Poem Analysis Method: title, paraphrase, connotation, diction, attitude, tone, shift(s), title revisited and theme

LInks to more information are below.  I hope this helps you.  Good luck!

  2. Sounds like those are acronyms (abbreviations made by taking the first letter of words in a phrase and making a new word out of them).

    SOAPS:

    - Subject Occasion Audience Purpose Speaker

    - Subject Occasion Audience Purpose Speaker

DIDLS:  Diction Imagery Details Language and Sentence

And I'm afraid I can't help you with the last one.  Could you give us the context in which you encountered these abbreviations?  Computers, writing, government agencies?

  3. The answer above it the same answer I got. Except I also found

http://www.krucli.com/tp-castt.htm  for the last one for you. They all seem to be acronyms for analysing poetry, or literature of some sort.
