I want to go to Marist in New York, if I do I don't know what I want to do more. I have always liked writing but crimes and the legal system have always appealed to me. With an English major the only job that I can think of is becoming a teacher. Now I really want to write books and stuff but I still cant help but think about majoring with criminal justice. I don't know what I can do with a degree in Criminal Justice though, I just don't know..can anybody give me some idea of what i could do with those degrees?

  1. An English degree has no limits. There are some people who are Public Relations Major, some who work with computers, some are working at magazines, some are the head of an educational workplace, some are admissions counselors. Liberal Arts doesn't drive you down to a specific major, rather it opens your mind into different ways of thinking which is useful in many majors.

A lot of people use Criminal Justice as a way to get into law school or enter into the police, graduate school for psychology or something similar in nature.

May I suggest making a major in one and minoring in the other?

  2. An English major really does give you unlimited opportunities. It's also a very good major to have if you want to go to law school, surprisingly enough. Keep in mind that being an author is not really a job you can have alone--it takes years to be successful (if you are at all) and if/when you are, you get paid sporadically and get paid very little money (most of the time.)
