English management decide to rest James Anderson – Cricket News Update
England premier pacer, James Anderson, has been rested for the team’s final Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, which begins on June 7 at Edgbaston.
The decision to rest Anderson has come on the back of a minor injury the player suffered during the side’s second Test victory at Trent Bridge. Also his omission reflects the rotation policy the Poms are considering in order to keep the players fresh for
a hectic home summer, where they will further take on the Windies in the shorter versions before locking horns with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
His absence has opened the door for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566 and Graham Onions to make a place in the national team, both of whom have been in top form in the current English domestic season. Finn last played a Test match in Sri Lanka a couple of months
back after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 suffered an injury, while Onions has not represented the Poms since 2010.
Anderson’s new-ball partner Broad is in the squad for the third Test but it is likely that he will also be rested, leaving http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 to lead the line - accompanied by Finn and Onions in a new look bowling combination.
The news was confirmed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Geoffrey-Miller-c58870, the English team selector, who felt that the decision to rest Anderson is in the best interest of the team and the player himself. Apart from a tough home summer, England is also scheduled to defend their World T20
title in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 late in the year.
"We have been made to work hard for our two victories so far and are delighted to have secured the series, however we know that we will need to continue to play some good cricket if we want a third win against the West Indies this week,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318 said.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 will miss this Test as we look to manage his workload ahead of a busy period of cricket this summer and beyond, a decision which is in the best interests of the team and James himself," he added.
