English pacer Stuart Broad exuberant after first Test win, preparing for the second encounter - Cricket News Update
The way England beat West Indies in the first Test of the three-match series has pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465, charged up for the second encounter starting from Friday, at Trent Bridge.
Broad was named as the Player of the Match in the first Test for exhibiting a stupendous bowling performance in both innings where he was extremely destructive as he wrecked havoc among the ranks of West Indies by taking 11 wickets in the match.
The bowler was phenomenal in the first innings where he grabbed seven wickets, playing a major role in limiting the tourists on a total of 243 runs.
In the second innings, the lanky pacer was yet again at the top with four West Indies scalps in his bag by conceding 93 runs in 34 overs.
Speaking in the post-match ceremony, the 25-year-old said, “Winning the toss and bowling puts a bit of pressure on the bowling group but we never expected it to be a 100-all-out wicket. I think all the bowlers found we just got into it throughout the first day and to have them nine down for 240-odd was a great effort.”
“We had to work very hard for this victory. It's obviously pleasing to get on all three honours boards,” he added.
Broad said that it was now time to mentally and physically prepare for the next encounter which if won by the Poms would give them the series.
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597 gave an insurmountable performance as they jabbed knocks of 79 and 63 to help their side prevail and draw first blood in the much anticipated Test series.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, on the other hand is not disappointed by this loss, as he believes that his team performed exceptionally well and gave the hosts a tough time.
He hoped to level the series in the next match, which would make the competition more interesting with the third Test becoming the series decider.
