English speakers, does an American or Canadian accent annoy you?

I have an English friend and I love her to death, but honestly sometimes her English accent drives me crazy. She put's 'r's' on the endings of words where there are no 'r's and she refuses to pronounce the 'r' on the ending of some words like car (it's caHH for her).

So I'm just wondering if my accent irritates her just as much? She's pretty polite and has never said anything about my accent.

  1. Some American Accents Annoy Me.

For Canadian Accents, I Am Canadian, But I Really Have Never Noticed Too Much Of A Difference From A Normal American To Canadian...

idk My Girlfriend Has A Bit Of An Australian Accent And I Love It!

  2. not really, its just about ajusting to them. I love australian accents loads though (:

But theres so many accents in the UK, especialy nothern england.

  3. Your friend sounds like she's misprouncing her words.  That's not a problem with the American accent, just the way she's speaking, eh?  Cheerio.

  4. I'm American and my husband is from Liverpool. His accent is completely different than the English one you're describing. We constantly make fun of each other's pronunciation. I have a Baltimore accent (which even I find annoying sometimes).

He does get annoyed by the way some people speak. But it's all relative isn't it? Some people find certain accents charming, while other's find them  ridiculous.

  5. My boyfriend is from England, and I'm American... I asked him this too... lol  He said mine is squeeky, but cute!? lol Idk....

  6. only when attempted by an English person

  7. Very much so.

American accents are absolutely atrocious. Id take the english one anyday.

When i hear an american accent i actually want to leave the room. Its not the people that annoy me, just that ridiculous accent.

    Ahhhh i hate it.

    no offence, none taken.

  8. Accents are accents ! It is so nice to have such a rich variance rather than the flat tones of the BBC . The best" English "accent is in fact Scottish - that of Inverness - honey off the lips  . The harsher intonations of Glasgow , Birmingham , Livewrpool and London are sore on the ears . American ? US ? Canadian ? Melifluous ! ( apart from the big apple ! )

  9. OMG I've asked this question 3 times and it has been deleted every single time.  The British people I speak with put "r's" everywhere and I can't figure out why.  Instead of saying "drawing" they say "drawring" and instead of "idea" they'll say "idear".

I have never heard any complains of my accent when I was in England but I don't think I would ever say anything to them during a conversation.

  10. it's not annoying, but canadians, americans, Britt's, and Aussie all sound funny if your not from there. Canada is probably the funniest

  11. This is a southern accent. Northern ones are nicer on the ears. I hate New york accents, when i hear them speak i want to t**t them round the ear

  12. To be honest, yes it really annoys me. Sorry if I offend!

  13. yes yes yes yes yessss. i have nothing against americans or canadians but really, the accent IS annoying. and english accents are VERY different everywhere you go. i can't quite work out where your friend is from just by your description but some english accents are worse than others.
