English squash side satisfied with the Commonwealth Games venue
The squash team of England side claims that their Commonwealth Games facilities in New Delhi are without any question simply world class, one of the contender’s coaches has disclosed on Thursday.
The standards as well as the security arrangements of the athlete’s village and venues in New Delhi have come in for big criticism. However, Malcolm Willstrop, who is the father as well as coach of squash contender, James told the reporters on Thursday that
according to his information the overall facilities along with the hygiene and security arrangements in New Delhi are top class.
He explained, "I received information saying the facilities are great.”
Moreover, few of the England coaches out there in India were of the view that they have seen some of the best show courts in Delhi.
Malcolm declared, "David Campion [national coach] said the show court is a 3,000 seater stadium and that the other ten courts there are the same standard as Manchester which is our national headquarters. He also said accommodation and food are great, so
the players will be very happy here. So it appears there has been some distortion in the media because clearly there are some very good facilities in Delhi."
Pontefract's James Willstrop successfully grabbed silver medal in the Commonwealth Games back in 2006 in Melbourne, and will be expecting further success this season, after taking the decision of heading to India despite the security and other issues with
the event’s venues.
"James is his own man and he makes his own decisions. If he'd had any misgivings I think he would have voiced them and not gone. Obviously he is my son and you are always concerned when they go away, but that's the same for any parent anywhere. Of all the
squash players I've dealt with in the build-up to the these Games, from the likes of New Zealand, Malaysia and England, none have ever expressed any doubt or fears about going,” his dad added on Thursday while talking to the reporters regarding the next up
Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
