  1. For starters, don't call the play a book.

The themes mentioned as still relevant today and that makes the play still relevant. We live in a political and social climate that makes us question ideas that are in the play such as public vs private self. Do we act for the common good at the cost of our private lives or vice  versa. We expect our politicians to represent us, but we rarely consider their private lives, except when they become scandalous.

The idea of the power of rhetoric. Barack Obama's ability to deliver a  moving speech is an example of today's rhetoric.

The dangers of being inflexible in a world of compromise. This is a lesson that everyone needs to learn, not just Brutus and Caesar. Stubborness can mean one's downfall.

Julius Caesar's themes are still relevant today and thus students still are able to understand its ideas as the political world has not changed so much. There are still those that want power and those jealous of the people that wield it and desire their downfall of their superiors.

  3. I don't like Julius Ceasar. There are many novels which are worse than this. I'm guessing why students have to read is in order to learn from mistakes, and how some people can overcome the darkness.
